Despite the anticipated October Maharashtra Assembly Election, the state’s political arena is already bustling with activity. All parties are busy maneuvering, whether through ticket distribution or election strategy, which requires senior leaders to fly back and forth between Maharashtra and Delhi. Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of the Shiv Sena (UBT), is currently in Delhi talking with leaders of the MVA alliance about seat distribution, and the Mahayuti alliance is finalizing its list of candidates. Meanwhile, important details about the BJP’s list of candidates have surfaced.
BJP is currently working on a candidate list
The media is reporting that the BJP is in the process of compiling a list of candidates, potentially forwarded to Delhi by the end of next week. According to rumors, the BJP hopes to gain an advantage by releasing its initial list of candidates prior to the announcement of the dates for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. According to sources, the first list may contain the names of thirty to forty applicants. This list probably includes candidates for seats where the BJP narrowly won or lost the previous election.
The BJP’s Approach Has Worked Well
It is not the first time that the BJP has used this tactic. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan last year, the party had previously declared its candidates before the opposition, giving the BJP an early advantage. This tactic helped the BJP secure a significant victory and establish governments in all three states, as evidenced by the election results. For this reason, the BJP wants to have a comparable edge in the Maharashtra Assembly Election by declaring its candidates ahead of time.
In the most recent election, the NDA won handily
The people of Maharashtra awarded the NDA alliance, led by the BJP, a resounding mandate to establish the government in the previous assembly election. However, the Shiv Sena broke away from the NDA after the election and teamed up with the Congress and NCP to form a government. Nevertheless, Eknath Shinde split the Shiv Sena and overthrew the government in 2022; hence, this administration was short-lived.
