Visakhapatnam, October 7, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested two people linked to the Visakhapatnam naval establishment for allegedly sharing sensitive defence-related information with Pakistan-linked intelligence operatives. The arrests are part of “Operation Firewall-2026,” a counter-intelligence operation launched on October 1.
18 Suspects Under Scanner
Investigators are examining a suspected espionage network involving 18 people, including 13 individuals associated with the Indian Navy.
Authorities are probing suspected communications with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives through encrypted messaging platforms.
Civilian Driver Arrested in Visakhapatnam
Police arrested Annam Sai Varaprasad, a civilian contract driver, for allegedly passing information related to naval and defence establishments to a Pakistan-linked operative.
Investigators are also examining whether money was received in exchange for the information.
Navy Sailor Arrested in Coimbatore
Another accused, Pradeep Mukherjee, was arrested in Coimbatore.
Investigators allege that he shared an OTP that helped activate a WhatsApp account allegedly used by a Pakistan-linked operative. His communications and any possible transfer of sensitive information are being investigated.
12 Teams Conduct Searches Across 10 States and UTs
The Andhra Pradesh Counter-Intelligence wing has deployed 12 teams across 10 states and Union Territories as part of the operation.
Electronic devices have reportedly been seized as investigators attempt to establish the full scale of the suspected network.
Visakhapatnam Defence Establishments Were Allegedly Targeted
The investigation is focused on attempts to obtain sensitive information related to the Indian Navy and other defence establishments in Visakhapatnam.
Authorities are examining what information may have been shared and whether additional people were involved.
Operation Firewall-2026 Continues
The counter-intelligence operation remains active, and further action could follow as authorities analyse seized electronic devices, financial transactions and communications linked to the suspects.
