The Yogi government of UP has passed the ‘Love Jihad Law’ in the assembly to stop love jihad. This bill has a provision to punish the guilty with life imprisonment. Ever since this bill has been passed, it is being discussed all over the country. Meanwhile, Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant has also given a big statement on this bill. Samant called this bill necessary and said that the Maharashtra government should also make the same kind of law as the UP government has made. Along with this, Samant said that whatever law will be made by the Home Ministry in this regard, Shiv Sena will fully support it. Let us tell you that Uday Samant has demanded this bill at a time when the assembly elections are near. BJP and Shiv Sena are running the government together in Maharashtra and the Home Minister is BJP leader and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.

What is in the ‘Love Jihad Law’ passed in UP?

The BJP government of UP had brought the ‘Love Jihad Law’ in the assembly to stop love jihad in the state, which was passed with an overwhelming majority. According to the provisions made in the new bill, if a person converts the religion of a minor, disabled, mentally challenged person, woman, scheduled tribe, then there is a provision to punish that culprit with life imprisonment along with a fine of one lakh rupees. Similarly, the guilty can also be sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees for mass conversion. The bill states that if a person involved in conversion is found to be taking money from a foreign or illegal organization, then he will also have to pay a fine of at least Rs 10 lakh along with imprisonment of 7 years to 14 years. The BJP government of UP had earlier brought the Religious Conversion Prohibition Bill, 2021, in that bill there was a provision to punish the guilty from one to 10 years. The same bill has been made even stronger in terms of punishment and penalty through amendment.
