UPSC EPFO APFC Recruitment 2026 Opens for 80 Posts; Online Registration Begins

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially opened applications for the EPFO Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) Recruitment 2026, offering 80 vacancies in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

According to UPSC’s Special Advertisement No. 52/2026, the online application process began on August 22, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the Commission’s online recruitment portal until 6:00 PM on September 11, 2026.

UPSC EPFO APFC 2026: Vacancy Details

UPSC has announced a total of 80 Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner posts.

The category-wise distribution is:

  • UR: 29 posts
  • EWS: 8 posts
  • OBC: 18 posts
  • SC: 15 posts
  • ST: 10 posts

Of the total vacancies, three posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

The APFC position is a permanent Group ‘A’, Non-Ministerial post in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation.

Who Can Apply?

Candidates applying for the UPSC EPFO APFC Recruitment 2026 must possess a degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.

UPSC has also listed a Diploma in Company Law, Labour Laws or Public Administration as a desirable qualification, though it is not the essential educational requirement.

Age Limit for APFC Recruitment

Salary and Job Profile

Candidates selected as Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners will be appointed at Level 10 of the Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

  • Recovery
  • Accounts
  • Administration
  • Legal matters
  • Pension
  • Settlement of claims
  • Cash and bank reconciliation

The position carries All India Service liability, meaning selected officers may be posted anywhere in the country. The headquarters of the post is New Delhi.

Application Fee

Candidates applying for the recruitment are required to pay an application fee of ₹25.

However, female candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories are exempt from paying the application fee.

The fee can be paid online using debit card, credit card, UPI or internet banking. OBC, EWS and unreserved male candidates are required to pay the prescribed fee.

Recruitment Test Scheduled for December 20

UPSC has also announced the date of the recruitment test.

A pen-and-paper-based Recruitment Test (RT) will be conducted on December 20, 2026, to shortlist candidates for the interview stage.

The test will be:

  • Two hours in duration
  • Objective-type with multiple-choice questions
  • Available in both English and Hindi
  • Subject to negative marking

For every incorrect answer, one-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. There will be no penalty for unanswered questions.

What Will the APFC Exam Cover?

The recruitment test syllabus includes several important areas, such as:

  • General English
  • Indian Culture, Heritage and Freedom Movements
  • Indian Economy and developmental issues
  • Governance and Constitution of India
  • General Science
  • Basic Computer Applications
  • Mathematics, Statistics and Mental Ability
  • Industrial Relations and Labour Codes
  • Social Security in India
  • Accountancy, Auditing and Insurance
  • National and International Current Affairs

The Recruitment Test will carry 300 marks, while the interview will carry 100 marks.

UPSC has specified a 75:25 weightage between the Recruitment Test and interview in the final selection process.

Applications officially opened on August 22, 2026, while the final deadline for submitting the online recruitment application is September 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

The Recruitment Test is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2026.

UPSC has also advised applicants to apply early, as examination centres are generally allotted on a first-apply-first-allotment basis once capacity limits at individual centres are reached.
