New Delhi/Jaipur, June 27: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sought a detailed report from the Rajasthan government following concerns raised over a series of maternal deaths in the state. The move comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) reportedly sought information regarding the incidents, prompting the Centre to review the circumstances surrounding the fatalities.
Officials have asked the Rajasthan Health Department to submit a comprehensive report detailing the causes of the deaths, medical management, healthcare infrastructure, and the measures being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Centre Requests Immediate Clarification
According to officials, the Health Ministry has directed the state government to provide district-wise information on the reported maternal deaths, along with hospital records, treatment protocols, and findings from any preliminary investigations.
The Centre is also expected to examine whether existing maternal healthcare guidelines were followed and if there were any systemic gaps in emergency obstetric care.
WHO Seeks Information
The issue gained national attention after the World Health Organization sought information regarding the reported maternal fatalities. While WHO has not issued a public assessment, the request for information has led the Union government to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with state authorities.
Health experts believe such information-sharing is a routine part of international public health surveillance aimed at understanding healthcare outcomes and identifying areas requiring improvement.
